The Hollies, Worsley

The Hollies, Cavendish Road, Worsley is a very large Edwardian semi-detached over three floors. In the same family for fifty years prior to purchase, this property was in a very sorry state internally and externally. A ground-up refurbishment was necessary to bring this house up to modern standards.

Sat on one of Worsley’s most prestigious roads, The Hollies was already a large property with large reception rooms, a large kitchen space and five double bedrooms over the top two floors. Many of the original features had been removed and the house had received no investment since the 1970s. The gardens were overgrown and large trees had taken over.

We completed a full programme of refurbishment that included transformation of the kitchen space to add bi-fold and French windows to the garden and a new utility space, the creation of a new ensuite bathroom to the master bedroom and a new bathroom to service the top floor bedroom. Renewal of all windows, electrics, plumbing and plastering complemented restoration of the remaining features including an original parquet floor, original decorative plasterwork, the staircase and the commissioning of new leaded windows for the main entrance hall.

On completion we invited the four sisters who sold us the house to see it before sale, so thorough was the transformation they were convinced we had extended the house they had known for fifty years, when in fact we had not needed to do this.
